In a twilight hazy suburban world there was a metal structure housing a large pool of liquid shit. Floating on the surface was a grid of technological devices harvesting energy. I had gotten one of these devices get electricity for my family. To link it to the system I had to reach over from a walkway to put it on the surface of the liquid and connect it to the others. Then I clipped in a heavy battery unit. I got it connected OK, but my hands were splattered with shit.

I woke and got up to drink some water. I started washing my hands and only realised half way through that there was no need.

David: Sailing and Flying

Ben is getting ready start a race in his Optimist dinghy. All the competitors are scattered around the starting boat which is anchored in a the middle of a huge field of green grass. I am flying between the boats, head-first with my arms outstreached to the sides. I am zooming around quite fast, but low, becuase the only way that I can move forwards is by pushing along on the grass with my feet.

Vincent’s father had died and so Vincent’s mother and I decided we should marry  so that she wouldn’t be alone. I became very stressed about this though because of the age gap and what the families would think, and I worried about how I’d explain it to my wife. I decided to visit Vincent first. When I arrived I discovered that he and his family were now living about two meters underground in a rather cramped, man-made cave. I was glad to discover it was Vincent’s birthday, which meant there wasn’t an opportunity to tell him about marrying his mother, but because I didn’t have a birthday present for him  I started making him a drawing of his sitting room on some wrapping paper.I drew his sofa much as it was but then next to it I drew two vast and rather strange and unattractive urns that levitated beside the sofa. I asked him how the girls were and he said everyone was fine. Iana was flourishing, the only problem was that everyday she got stung by a scorpion, and sometimes bitten by spiders.

I was in Sea Point with my Dad. There was a huge tanker ship parked in the waves just off the beach with a big bunch of people body surfing in the scary swells next to it. They were going up and down a ladder onto the ship. So my Dad and I went up onto the ship to make a phone call. Inside it was quite smart. We found the captain and crew dressed in their white uniforms watching a cricket match on TV in amongst tropical pot plants. There was a party going on with a veiled arabic drummer and people dancing. Then a really good tune by Snoop Dog (that I have never heard before) came on. I said, ” Fuck, Snoop Dog is amazing!” I looked behind me and Snoop Dog was there. He said, “Yeah, I am.” I tried to tell him that I didn’t know he was there and I was actually just talking abount the music, but I don’t think he believed me.

Karen and Dave and Ben and Maggie are moving into a new house in a very dodgy part of Woodstock so that Karen can be closer to The Kitchen, and because she wants to make a socio-political statement. The walls are barely standing, and instead of doorways there are just holes. The roof is a combination of thatch and plastic sheeting. I mention I am a bit concerned about the roof but Dave touches it and says it’s very strong. Next door a British couple have moved in , and their house (in a similar state of disrepair to Dave and Karen’s) is full of hand made bric-a-brac which is for sale. They have left England in protest of a particular dairy which sells milk that isn’t organic.
